Tour Plan

01

Day 1: Arrival in Canosa

Arrival at the hotel, dinner and night.

02

Distance 24 km

Day 2: Canosa - Andria

A medium length stage made a little challenging by the high percentage of asphalt and the numerous ups and downs that cross the countryside of Canosa and Andria: here begins the Dop Terra di Bari area in which the "Coratina cultivar", the most widespread native olive variety in Puglia, from which one of the finest extra virgin oils is obtained. In the company of the olive trees we reach Andria. There are no water sources along the route, so stock up well upon departure.

03

Distance 13,9 km

Day 3: Andria - Corato

Today's one inaugurates a series of three stages, from Andria to Bitonto, which allow you to arrive quickly at your destination and have the time necessary to visit cities rich in history and monuments, among which the splendid Romanesque cathedrals stand out. The journey to Corato takes place along country roads, partly unpaved, and through an unchanged agricultural landscape, dominated by olive trees. There are no water sources along the route, so stock up well upon departure.

04

Distance 12,2 km

Day 4: Corato - Ruvo di Puglia

It is still the olive trees that accompany us on this very short and largely asphalted stage: the route winds through the countryside along easy, traffic-free districts that quickly lead to the small hill on which Ruvo di Puglia sits. The historic center of the town is full of beauty: baroque churches, stately palaces, a unique museum in Italy and the splendid cathedral, among the greatest examples of Apulian Romanesque. There are no water sources along the route, so stock up well upon departure.

05

Distance 18,4 km

Day 5: Ruvo di Puglia - Bitonto

In this stage there are two possible routes: the main one, mostly dirt road, follows the ancient route of the Via Traiana; the variant instead allows you to visit the pretty town of Terlizzi and the hamlet of Sovereto, with the sanctuary of the Black Madonna, where in the Middle Ages there was a hospice for pilgrims and a hospital for the crusaders. The last 10 km and the arrival in Bitonto are shared. There are no water sources along the route, so stock up well upon departure.

06

Distance 21,6 km

Day 6: Bitonto - Bari

In this stage, when we are two thirds of the way through, we finally reach the sea: the first part takes place on easy country roads, mostly asphalted but always surrounded by olive trees; from the airport area a cycle/pedestrian path and then a series of busy roads lead to the San Girolamo district. From here you walk along the seafront to the majestic Basilica of San Nicola, a symbolic place of medieval and modern pilgrimage.

Day 7: End our service
