Day 1: Arrival in Lucca
Once in Lucca take a walk on the oval-shaped town walls, visit the Duomo not forgetting “il Volto Santo” an impressive, wooden sculpture created by Nicodemus, that arrived in Lucca by miracle on a boat without sailors, as the legend goes.

Day 2: Lucca to Altopascio
Walking day on flat ground, which was once dangerous because of marshes and bandits and now a densely populated area.
Pieve di Capannori, Badia Pozzeveri are some of the historical and religious monuments that is possible to visit during this day.

Day 3: Altopascio to San Miniato Alto
There is a short stretch of medieval original pavement. To see along the way : Ponte a Cappiano (bridge built by Cosimo de’ Medici, XVI sec.) – San Miniato Alto. To make it shorter and avoid a not so nice stretch, you can catch a bus.
Type of route: dirt roads or secondary asphalt and a strech of original paved route.

Day 4: San Miniato to Gambassi
After the first 6 km of trafficless asphalt, the whole itinerary is on unpaved roads or trails. The oak woods of the initial part give away to vineyards in the second part. Along the road you can visit two interesting churches, Pieve di Coiano and S. Maria a Chianni just before arriving in Gambassi.

Day 5: Gambassi to San Gimignano
A short day among Chianti vineyards to allow for time in the town of towers, one of the most famous places in Tuscany. it is pleasant to see the town in the evening or early morning when the busloads of tourists have not yet invaded it.

Day 6: San Gimignano to Strove
The day takes in a very varied and mix of rural Tuscan landscapes.
A fairly long day in a beautiful landscape.

Day 7: Strove - Siena
A nice walk in the pleasant countryside. The round walls of the historical fortified military post are amazing. Very interesting the parish church of Abbadia Isola. The route is unpaved almost to the arrival in Siena. The "clou" of the day is the ice cream you will have at a café on Piazza del Campo, watching people go by.
